Why Bio-Urns?

Unlike scattering, which might feel too ‘final’ for some, keeping the ashes fosters an ongoing relationship with the departed, providing a place of comfort and reflection. This decision honours their life in a different way, offering a touchstone for generations to come and ensuring that their essence remains an integral part of your life's narrative.

Bio-Urns is the perfect middle ground between traditional urns and scattering ashes in nature. With Bio-Urns, your loved one's ashes are returned to nature, yet still stay within your home. Our urns provide a secure and confined space for the ashes, while maintaining their own self-contained eco-system, allowing your loved one's legacy to thrive as a vibrant and living tribute. This innovative approach not only offers a serene and captivating final resting place, but also allows you to keep your loved one's ashes close and to witness new life emerge from them.

Made with love

We do not scatter the ashes over existing terrariums, instead we build each Bio-Urn from start to finish, blending the ashes with the soil, to create a foundation base layer that will nurture and support the minature garden that is grown above it. This approach ensures that the ashes harmoniously coexist with the thriving plant life and foster the start of a new ecosystem.

Ashes are sent to us in a test-tube that we provide. Each test tube is assigned a unique number to ensure that you receive the correct Bio-Urn in return. If not collected, our Bio-Urns are delivered using private drivers to ensure that they travel with little disruption and that the hand over is personal and heartfelt.

How they are self-sustaining?

Our sealed Bio-Urns require remarkably little maintenance due to their self-contained ecosystem design. The key to their low-maintenance nature lies in the sealed or closed environment, which creates a miniature water cycle.

Within this enclosed glass container, plants release moisture through transpiration, which then condenses on the inner surface of the container and trickles back down to the soil. This continuous recycling of water significantly reduces the need for external watering, as the terrarium essentially waters itself.

Additionally, the sealed environment also prevents the loss of humidity and minimises the entry of pests, making it a self-sustaining microcosm that thrives with minimal human intervention. With the right balance of light and occasional pruning,

Bio-Urns are a perfect low-maintenance option for both experienced and novice plant enthusiasts.
